KIWANIS MOTTO:
“Serving the Children
of the World”
The name “Kiwanis” was coined [loosely] from a native American language. Random House Dictionary states that it comes from one of the Algonquian languages and means “to make oneself known”. It was translated “We build” when Kiwanis was founded as a service club in 1914, and was adopted as its motto in 1920. In 2005 the motto was changed to “Serving the children of the world”. That’s our goal. That’s what we do!
